French Immersion Project Goals: General: 1. Get a comprehensive introduction into French language and culture, in order to be better prepared for college French classes. 2. Practice language-learning skills like memorization and pronunciation. 3. Make connections between Spanish and French, and learn why the languages are so similar. 4. Learn how to carry out a basic conversation in French. 5. Learn how to understand basic sentences in French, spoken or written French. 6. Get a little context for my language learning--learn a little about French history and French mannerisms.
Specific: 1. Learn how to ask if someone speaks English, how to ask someone's name, how to talk about the weather and the date, and how to tell the time. 2. Learn subject pronouns and how to conjugate basic verbs (to have, to be, to do). 3. Become comfortable with pronunciation and making French sounds (learn the different French accents and pronunciation patterns / rules). 4. Learn fun French metaphors and slang. 5. Research the importance of language-learning and its application to different careers and fields.
